Motability

It entitles a person who’s in receipt of a qualifying mobility allowance to lease a brand-new MG or Vauxhall vehicle. This means that your chosen car can be modified to make it easier for you to access and drive, and it’ll come with insurance, servicing and breakdown cover already included.

We’ll be more than happy to help you with this. Or, feel free to visit the Motability website, where you’ll find the relevant application information.

You are eligible if you receive one of the following mobility allowances and it’s valid for at least 12 months:

  • Higher rate mobility part of Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • Higher rate mobility part of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
  • War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

From city cars to estate cars, our MG Motability vehicles include…

  • MG 3
  • MG4 EV
  • MG ZS
  • MG ZS EV
  • MG HS
  • MG5 EV

Our Vauxhall Motability vehicles include everything from practical hatchbacks to nine-seat MPVs.

  • Corsa
  • Corsa Electric
  • Mokka
  • Mokka Electric
  • Astra
  • Astra Sports Tourer
  • Crossland
  • Grandland
  • Combo Life Electric
  • Vivaro Life Electric

Since 1977, this UK-wide charity has helped countless disabled people achieve greater freedom by allowing them to exchange their mobility allowance for a brand-new car.

If you receive a benefit because of a disability or illness that impedes your mobility, you can use it to lease a vehicle. You’ll qualify if you are in receipt of one of the following (and it’s valid for at least 12 months):

  • Higher rate mobility component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
  • Enhanced rate mobility component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)
  • War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)

Used Cars

There are so many things you should look out for, and everyone’s priorities are different. You should always check that the vehicle has a V5C document and take a look at its service history, as well as ensuring its performance, space and interior meet your needs.

Generally speaking, 12,000 to 15,000 miles per year is considered good.

We tend to lease new cars only. For full leasing details, please contact us.

Absolutely, when bought from Baylis – this is because our manufacturer-trained technicians carry out a full inspection on each used car. For added peace of mind, we provide a choice of warranty options.

More often than not, yes. This is because most used cars aren’t considered to be as valuable as their brand-new equivalents. That said, car insurance covers other aspects too, such as personal driving history and the kind of coverage that’s required.

March and September are good times to buy a new car. This is because, in February and August, motorists scramble to trade in their current vehicle for a new one following the introduction of new number plate formats.

Electric & Hybrid

Essentially, it’s a step up from a conventional car because it adds an electric motor which assists the combustion engine.

Not in the traditional sense. They have automatic single-gear transmission, as electric motors don’t require gears.

It depends on the car. The MG4 EV takes about 36 minutes to undergo a 20% to 80% charge when using a fast-charging (50 kW) public connector.

The Corsa Electric takes about 36 minutes to achieve a 20% to 80% charge using a 50 kW-rated public connector.

Like normal cars, they’re powered by a combustion engine. The difference is that a hybrid car’s engine is supported by an electric motor which provides power boosts and instant torque; they offer self-charging convenience too.

Yes. Because electric motors don’t require gears, they drive just like an automatic car.

An electric vehicle (EV) derives its power from a high-capacity battery which drives either one or two electric motors. These propel the car. The battery can be charged at home, at work or at one of several thousand UK-wide public access points.

Plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) are similar to regular hybrids while offering the advantage of a greater pure-electric driving range. The MG HS PHEV, for instance, is capable of a 32-mile range, which means it’s able to return as much as 155.8mpg.

The Vauxhall Astra PHEV, for instance, offers a range of up to 43 miles, allowing it to return up to 256mpg.

Aftersales

In most cases, between 45 and 60 minutes.

  • An interim service (conducted every six months) should take about two to three hours, assuming there are no major issues.
  • full service (every 12 months) tends to take longer because it’s more comprehensive.

It depends on your vehicle and its tyres. Your owner’s handbook (or a sticker that’s usually found inside the door or on another part of the body) should provide you with tyre pressure details. If you can’t find this information, we’ll be happy to advise you – and correctly adjust tyre pressure where necessary.

It’s a legal requirement applicable to the vast majority of vehicles that are more than three years old. It checks roadworthiness, vehicle safety and (where appropriate) exhaust emissions.

Our MOTs start from just £45 when included in a Baylis Service Plan.

We check a whole host of parts and systems, including signs of corrosion, the condition and security of the towbar (if included), the fuel system, exhaust emissions (if applicable), seatbelts, seats, doors, mirrors and brakes.

It’s a vehicle health check that assesses the overall condition of your car.

It depends on the car and the type of service you require. Our inflation-proof Service Plans begin at £14 per month.
